A big welcome to our new Sunday Lecturer, Scott!

b2ap3_thumbnail_984107_10151692656678824_1144417129_n.jpgScott discovered Happy Science in July 2009 and became a staff member in 2012. After working as Staff in our Melbourne Branch for a year, he moved to Australia Shoshinkan in March 2013. You will find Scott all around Sydney, spreading flyers, talking to people in the local community and supporting Japanese students who come to Sydney for their spiritual discipline. He is also running our Thursday night Parramatta Meditation groups and is very talented with a BBQ!

Scott takes great joy in the privilege of helping others to improve their lives and to become happier. His thoughtful and patient manner makes his seminars clear, thorough and informative!

Seminar Overview:

Rebuilding Your Life Series: This series, based on the lecture by Ryuho Okawa, is designed to help participants overcome critical issues that are faced in life, and provide tools for how to begin to live again after setbacks. No matter what the circumstances, we can still step toward happiness as though we are reconstructing the refined architecture called “life” after it has been demolished. This is what “Rebuilding Your Life” means.

23rd June, 11am - Overcoming Grudges

We have all been hurt by someone or some experience in our past, but how do we release these feelings so we can 'forgive and forget'. Or, more importantly, how do we not only move past these experiences, but turn them into something which allows our life to shine brighter? Happy Science provides tools for how to identify grudges and overcome them, in order to lead us to toward greater happiness and success in life.

TBA- Believing in the Future

About the  Happy Science “One Day Monk Experience”

  • This program gives lay people the opportunity to develop themselves through religious discipline. In other words, they become a ‘priest’ for a one day period. Participants explore the path to enlightenment through various ascetic practices such as maintenance of Shoja, recitation of sutras, meditation and so on.
  • Detaching yourself from the world for one night and devoting yourself to religious training allows you to look inside your mind in an unbiased way, remove your attachments, and attune the mind to a higher level of spiritual and religious thought.
  • Upon completing the training and returning to everyday life, participants of the program should aim to continue ‘Exploration of the Right Mind’ and to devote themselves to realizing an ideal world on Earth!

I have been a member of Happy Science since 2001 and have been working in our Sydney Sangha since 2008. Having experienced depression and anxiety through out my 20's, and using these teachings to tackle, overcome and understand why these things were happening to me, I feel very strongly about supporting people who are going through such dark times. Life is hard, but we are each precious, loved and beautiful. Just because the clouds hide the sun doesn't mean that the sun isn't shining. I believe that each of us have a wonderful and unique gift to bring to this world and it is just a matter of discovering the best way for us to express that.

This month we launch new morning and evening prayer disciplines at Australia Shoshinkan.

Prayer is a key part of spiritual discipline. It helps us to attune out mind to Heaven and connect with our Guardian and Guiding spirits for inspiration and support. Along with this, daily prayer helps us to keep the truth that we are spiritual beings at the forefront of our minds as we tackle the ins and outs of human life in the 3rd dimension.

b2ap3_thumbnail_gratitude.jpgIf you have been checking out our calendars or any of our social media sites, you would have seen '7th Day Gratitude Ceremonies' and, understandably, you may be wondering what they are.

The number 7 has long had a very positive and spiritual meaning. 'Seventh Heaven', 'lucky number 7' and the 'seven days of creation', just to name a few well known references. I'm sure you could think of a few more.
